Meet the
jungle cat.
Despite its name, the jungle cat is often linked more closely to wetlands and tall grass than closed rainforest. It can use modified landscapes where cover and prey remain.

Appearance
A lanky cat with a mostly plain sandy-grey to reddish coat, long legs, a short tail and small dark ear tufts.

Behaviour
Usually solitary and a stealthy ground hunter, though it can climb and swim when needed.

Diet
Mainly rodents and birds, with reptiles, amphibians, fish and other small prey also recorded.

Habitat
Reed beds, marshes, riverine vegetation, grassland, scrub and agricultural edges.

Distribution
Ranges from northeastern Africa and the Middle East through South and parts of Southeast Asia.
